Update

Sorry to anyone that might have come accross this blog in my absense...ejo ma binu! what had happened was...eh ..eh..eh.... ok i have no excuse except for laziness, but not to worry your girl has been doing pretty good..we thank Chineke! So i did my big chop (cut off relaxed ends) on August 28th, so i have been fully natural for about 6 months now. Has it been fun.... you ask? well it has been.....lets just say, i'm relearning the science of natural hair, and the journey has been fun so far! I almost became a product junky until some youtube vidoes knocked some senses into my head, so now my products just dey like dele...so lemme break it down as to what i am using now...

For Shampoo i use Giovanni 50:50 balanced Shampoo . It's been working awesomely (it that a word?)
For conditioner i use Giovanni Tea Tree triple treat. It feels great on your scalp, talk about tingly goodness.
And for other things i use, i found out for my climate vegetable glycerine is my friend, it keeps my hair so moisturized eh that my hair can pass for agege bread or cotton candy the only downside is that you can't eat it...*think of something really soft if my simile was lost on you*. My friend water is your friend...did you hear what i just said? water is your friend! it is the best moisturizer you can ever use. when i wake up in the morning i always spray water on my hair and then seal with a leave in conditioner like Giovanni direct leave in or Kinky Curly Knot Today and ofcourse your chosen oil. Ever since i started this method my hair has been singing "halleluyah" as in joy overflowing. Ok let me stop here i will try to update really soon....and o yea happy 2010!

How to take care of your hair!!!!!!

so ladies if you are like me.....you have always wanted to know what to do to make your hair grow longer.....here are a few things a woman needs for maximum hair growth. So here goes

okay before i go on....i have to state that you need to throw that grabage myth about "black or African hair can't grow" into where it belongs.... the garbage!!!!!....every hair no matter the texture(white, asian, hispanic and black) grows about six inches or more a year, the problem is when hair grows out from it's roots it becomes the oldest part of your hair (hair is made up dead protein) so it has to be well taken care of hense your ends are the weakest and oldest part of your hair and so is prone to serious breakage.... so peoples... your hair grows but the problem is keeping the ends from breaking off!!!!!... so keep this at a minimal here are a few things you need.

1) you need a moisturizing shampoo with no laureth Sulfate because this strips black hair of it's natural oils (so check the ingredients in your shampoo before you buy it) and black hair loves moisture: products i recommend are Giovanni shampoo, cream of nature shampoo(the one with the green writing)....or you can make your own shampoo(how to make your own organic coming soon my people)

2) get a an extra moisturizing conditioner too for your hair. i can not put enough emphasis that your hair needs moisture. recommendations Giovanni moisture conditioner , Creme of nature conditioner or burts bee conditioner

3)learn how to detangle your hair properly because this can cause breakage if done wrongly
recommendation : always use a wide tooth comb or a paddle brush to detangle (you can get this at sally's, walgreens, cvs .etc

4) stop cutting your so much in the name of trimming.....if you take care of your hair you won't have to trim as much

5) get a good protein treatment(aphogee or nexxus) for your hair. it strengthens the hair and keeps it strong.

6) Get a good moisturizer and oil to seal in moisture (shea butter is the best organic moisturizer and coconut oil to seal in moisture

7) avoid chemicals of any sort or atleast reduce your usage of any chemical becasue they damage your hair follicles in the long run

8) ladies your diet is very important in aiding your natural hair growth (eat lots of fruits, vegetables and dring lots of water)....if you can't get in your daily nutrients please always use supplements one a day women, one source daily suplement, centrum, or even flintstones.

so ladies here...try this and you will be well on your way to longer healthier hair. Remember do not rely on hair stylist to fix your hair, you have to learn how to take care of your own hair

My Natural beauty(Transitioning from relaxer back to Natural)

Hi y'all...this is officiallly my first blog post and i feel good about this. So Earlier this year i got sick of putting my hair in weaves and relaxers and decided to go natural. My last relaxer was on the 31st of Dec 2008 and it's been a couple of months now..... so far it's been looking good .

I remember when i was growing up and i would go to the salon and my heart would be beating like a rhythmic african drum as i waited for my turn to get my relaxer....amidst tear and wailing and the hair stylist telling me

"this girl i go tell your mama make she cut your hair if you continue to dey cry like this"

a shiver would run down my spine after such threats because i didn't want to be the girl with the short hair cut in school. I continued to endure the pain just to have a straight hair texture!!!! because i was told my hair was unmanageable in it's natural state *hiss* anyhoos ladies if you are like me you are transitioning from relaxer to natural le t me encourage you we are in this together....on my next blog i will share how to take care of your hair (natuaral or relaxed) by yourself to ensure maximum growth
